12 count Armadillidium vulgare “Japanese magic potion”
The “magic potion” morph of Armadillidium vulgare is an expression of the dalmatian gene, showcasing a white almost translucent base with yellow spots that are unaffected by the gene because the gene only affects dark pigment.
The Japanese line is differentiated from the American line by its yellow markings spots, which appear smaller on the Japanese MPs compared to the American. The Japanese line also has black spots, whereas the American line, thought to have been crossed with vugare "orange vigor" at some point, produces black or orange spots.
This species enjoys a humidity gradient ranging from semi-arid to temperate conditions. These critters are burrowers and prefer a substrate depth of at least 3 to 4 inches.
*Please expect to receive a variety of sizes from juvenile to subadult, we only include isopods that are fully colored in our counts.
*Isopods sent for “after show deals” are packed in containers with bioactive substrate, oak leaves and sphagnum moss. This is how we pack our pods for expo events. If you don’t want to dump the entire contents of the container into the isopods new enclosure, please be sure to dig through to find any small babies that may be burrowed into the substrate.
*These isopods have been in their containers for over a week and there may be a few deaths when you receive them, we do include over-counts. Thanks for understanding!
