Our big leaf maple rot wood is collected from the stream beds of a chemical and pesticide free property in Cowlitz county Washington and fully air dried before bagging up to ship out to our lovely customers.
Rot wood is an essential item for all isopods and is rich is calcium. We air dry our rot wood with no form of sterilization to provide the most nutrient rich wood possible. We collect when the wood is fully saturated to minimize the amount of potential hitchhikers.
*You may sterilize your rot wood upon arrival if you are worried about unwanted hitchhikers. We suggest freezing your bag of leaf litter for 48-72 hours prior to use if you are concerned about introducing contaminants into your enclosures.
